Network operations center

A network operations center (or NOC, pronounced like the word "knock") is one or more locations from which monitoring and control is exercised over a computer, network or individual devices or software. NOCs are responsible for monitoring for power failures, network of software problems (such as bit errors, framing errors, line coding errors, and circuits down) and other performance issues that may affect the network. NOCs analyzes problems, perform troubleshooting, communicate with onsite or other offsite technicians and other NOCs, and track problems through sophisticated software for a resolution. If necessary, NOCs escalate problems to the appropriate onsite personnel.
